CAAC (Computer Axle Adjustment Concept) is created with a wish to optimize the overall economy of the carrier and support the EU climate objective.
All axle manufacturers work within a set of tolerances when producing axles. The tolerances are tight, but the problems they leave behind are significant. Thus, five years ago our Swedish expert Stefan Nilsson attacked the problem with a conviction that re-adjusting the axles would be financially beneficial. This meant an investment of DDK 2 million (approx. 270,000 euro) in equipment and extensive testing before the technology, methods and standards were in place.
The next big challenge was to convince the customers of the value of the solution. Luckily, we have a group of customers who are always willing to try something new. These customers quickly realized that this was a matter of great benefits and cost reductions.
Today we are able to show significant cost reductions on fuel, tyre wear and repairs. In additions there is less CO2 emission, less road wear and increased comfort. CAAC also supports the development effort of the truck manufacturers towards energy-saving engines, gearboxes and rear axle assembly. After all, these good intentions are lost if you attach a trailer to a truck where the axles are running unevenly.
CAAC is both a positive story and a win-win situation. It is the story which shows that it is possible to think green and increase earnings for the entire value chain.
Here is a short clip of a truck with CAAC adjusted axles of the Euroflex type:
